Closed circuit cooling towers

Closed-circuit cooling towers, or liquid coolers, operate in the same way as open-circuit ones, but dissipate the heat load of the process fluid to the ambient air through a coil. This isolates the process fluid from outside air, keeping it clean and free of contamination in a closed loop. During evaporative cooling, heat travels from the internal circuit (coil) to the spray water, and then to the air as vapor.
